Water from ground dewatering spears is pumped to 3000Lt metal tank located near end of sea container; here water PH can be adjusted if needed. As well we add Ozone gas to oxidise Nitrogen to Nitrates. If needed we can add flocculent, if media filters can not remove turbidity unassisted.
Water is then pumped thru media filters containing AQ6500 Iron and metals removal media. This has the ability to remove heavy metal contaminants see attached information on AQ6500 Filtration.
Intermittently media filter is backwashed in much the same way as a pool filter. In this case filters are more efficient design with specific regime.
Water then flows thru carbon media filtration to remove chlorine and chloro / organic pesticides etc.
After this water flows thru resin media designed to remove NO3 from water by ion exchange. Ion Exchange resin consists of an insoluble matrix (or support structure) normally in the form of small (1–2 mm diameter) beads, usually white or yellowish, fabricated from an organic polymer substrate. The material has highly developed structure of pores on the surface of which are sites with easily trapped and released ions. The trapping of ions takes place only with simultaneous releasing of other ions; thus the process is called ion exchange. There are multiple different types of ion-exchange resin which are fabricated to selectively prefer one or several different types of ions.
Regeneration uses a specific chemical to wash NO3 from matrix after set volume / time as calculated from on going operational data. Water flow rate is monitored and signal sent back to PLC controller.

Programs to control machine operation are typically stored in battery-backed or non volatile memory.
PLC is located inside electrical cabinet and monitors / controls all devices, we use Siemens brand to ensure consistent high quality operation.
Pump will be controlled by VSD (Variable Speed drive) according to float level in tank so can adjust to higher speed if high level probe is activated.
Flow monitor is an insertion magnetic flowmeter, this works by: magnetic field is applied to the metering tube, which results in a potential difference proportional to the flow velocity perpendicular to the flux lines. The physical principle at work is electromagnetic induction. The magnetic flow meter requires a conducting fluid, for example, water that contains ions, and an electrical insulating pipe surface, for example, a rubber-lined steel tube.
